You have until Sunday, March 28, 2021, to move in and out of counties under lockdown, Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has said.
In a press briefing today, Oguna clarified that the grace period has been given to allow Kenyans who may be stranded away from workplaces to transition.
“This is also for students who may want to travel home after the closure of schools,” Oguna said.
“Individuals who are holders of curfew passes will continue to use the old passes until new ones are issued by Tuesday next week. This applies to healthcare workers, and Journalists, among others,” Oguna added.

Yesterday, during the State of the Nation address, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the cessation of movement in five counties to contain the spread of covid-19.
The head of state named Kiambu, Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado and Nakuru as the highly contagious counties hence dubbed Disease Infected Zones.
Further measures included the ban of travel either by air, road or water to the above-mentioned areas. Public gatherings of every nature were also banned in these counties.

In these areas that were put under partial lockdown, curfew will start at 8 pm and end at 4 am but will remain the same in the other 42 counties.
Bars in the five counties were also closed for an unspecified period of time with the of alcohol in restaurants and eateries has also been prohibited. Only take-away services are allowed.
These measures, according to the Country’s first in command were occasioned by the surge in positive cases of Coronavirus in the last three weeks.
“In less than 12 days, our admission in hospitals has increased by 52%. The positivity rate is the highest since the pandemic began and the stress on our health care is unparalleled,” he said.
