Sweden are through to the quarterfinals of the Russia World Cup following a 1-0 win over Switzerland in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
Emil Forsberg’s deflected shot in the second half was all the Blue-yellow needed to book a slot in the round of eight.
Sweden, who are making their 11th appearance in the Mundial will know their next opponents later tonight when Colombia take on England.
Emil’s 60th minute rocket which deflected off Manuel Akanji and flew past keeper Yann Sommer, was his first at the tournament after 14 attempts.
It could have been worst for Switzerland after Michael Lang brought down Martin Olsson, who was on full flight but VAR review showed that the 93rd minute incident happened outside the box.
Lang was nonetheless sent off with Switzerland finishing the game a man down.
Sweden join Brazil, Belgium, Uruguay and hosts Russia in the quarters which begin on Friday.
