We Will Not Allow NYS Buses Into The Transport Market – Matatu Owners

Matatu owners have vowed to frustrate the move by National Youth Service (NYS) to introduce buses that will charge a flat rate of Sh. 50.

The Matatu owners association and the Matatu Welfare Association have vowed to frustrate the initiative until it fails.  They said that the y were not consulted therefore the the initiative will just remain an idea.They say that the buses will introduce unfair competition if allowed to join the transport sector.

The NYS said that they had noticed that Kenyans were walking long distances especially during the rainy season after Matatus hike their fares without considering the Kenyans and the struggles that they encounter daily.
