Wajir Governor, Mohamed Abdi Mohamud on Friday lost his seat after the High Court nullified his election citing irregularities.
The court found that the county boss was not a certified degree holder and that some ballot boxes had their seals broken.
justice Alfred Mabea has ordered for a fresh election to be held in 90 days. Abdi’s lawyers are currently requesting ‘for stay of order’ to ensure that there is no vacuum in the governor’s office.

“In totality, the court hereby finds that the petitioners have succeeded in convincing the court the election was not conducted in a free and fair manner,” Judge Mabeya ruled.
The court further noted that the forms used during the election were photocopies; lacked watermarks.
The Speaker of the County Assembly will take over as governor as the county prepares for another election.
