Wajir governor, Mohamed Abdi Mohamud has filed a notice of appeal against the decision of the High court to nullify his election.
The High court in Nairobi on January 12 nullified his election citing that he was not legally cleared to vie for the gubernatorial seat. the court also cited election irregularities.
Justice Alfred Mabea ordered for a fresh election to be held in 90 days but the lawyers of the county boss asked for a stay of the order pending appeal.
“In totality, the court hereby finds that the petitioners have succeeded in convincing the court the election was not conducted in a free and fair manner,” Judge Mabeya ruled.
The court further noted that the forms used during the election were photocopies; lacked watermarks.
