Waititu, Sonko Exchange Pleasantries After Leaked Phone Call Saga

There seems to be no love lost between Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu and Nairobi counterpart governor Mike Sonko after he leaked phone call between the two after the arrest of Waititu’s wife for illegal construction.

The two governors were seen in deep conversation at the 40th anniversary of  Kenya’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta at the Kenyatta Mausoleum.

The two governors conversation was accidentally leaked on social media . In the phone call Governor Waititu was heard begging Sonko to release his wife and 14 others workers who had been arrested by the county officials at Delta Hotel constructing without approval.

The Nairobi governor is heard agreeing to release Kiambu county’s first lady Susan Wangare but refused to release the rest saying that he had received orders from above.

The governor managed to have the leaked audio pulled down saying it was done accidentally.

The Nairobi had also claimed that the Kiambu governor copied his exams. He took a swipe at the Punjab University graduate for not knowing the meaning of riparian land when he said rivers should be moved instead of demolishing them.
