University of Nairobi (UoN) students have defied orders that required them to vacate the premises before 9 am Tuesday morning.
They have camped outside Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Mbithi’s office at the main campus demanding for a refund of their school fees.
They have accused Professor Mbithi of ‘wasting their time and money’ for closing the institution indefinitely without consulting them.
The VC cited a ‘deteriorating security situation.’
The students were on Thursday in running battles with the police while protesting for the release of former SONU chairman and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino’s release.
Police are said to have assaulted 26 students who have been asked by IPOA to record statements of the brutality.
The students form the Lower Kabete campus staged protests on Tuesday morning calling for the resignation of the VC.
Some have accused him of ‘ethnic profiling.’
