The Kenyatta family today commemorated the 40th anniversary since Mzee Jomo Kenyatta died.
The family gathered at the Kenyatta mausoleum next to Parliament to pay their respects to the fallen hero.
During the service, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko about Mzee Kenyatta’s pension.
“Na wewe Sonko, mama (Mzee’s wife, Mama Ngina) anauliza wapi pension kwa sababu mzee aliwafanyia kazi (And you Sonko, my mother has been asking where is the pension since her husband worked for you).” He posed.
Jomo Kenyatta worked as a city council water meter reader in the 1920s before joining politics.
Uhuru’s comment sparked laughter among the people in attendance.
