    Uhuru Impersonators Spend Night At Muthaiga Police Station As Court Dismisses Application To Detain Them

    Seven men accused of impersonating President Uhuru Kenyatta will spend the night at Muthaiga Police Station.

    They are; Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja and Anthony Wafula.

    They appeared before Nairobi Magistrate Peter OoKo where they were charged with conspiracy to defraud.

    Prosecution sought to have the men held for 10 days owing to the complex nature of the matter.

    But Magistrate Ooko directed that the seven appear before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi tomorrow failure to which they will be discharged.

    “On January 24 and February 1, 2019 at Prime Bank in Riverside Drive, Nairobi County, the accused jointly conspired with others not before court with intent to defraud, obtained Ksh.10 million from Akif Hamid Butt by falsely pretending that they were in a position to sell to Sameer Africa a piece of land situated in Milimani Area, Nairobi,” the charge sheet read.

    The men were arrested on on Friday and Saturday last week for allegedly obtaining Sh10 million under false pretense from Sameer Africa Chairman Nashud Merali.

    During the operation, DCI sleuths recovered a Toyota Land Cruiser V8, Toyota Mark X , Toyota Axio and Toyota Crown.
