Inter clan banditry at the Kisumu and Kericho border has left two people dead.
A 22 year old man was killed as he tried to chase after bandits who had taken nine goats. A 45 year old man is also receiving treatment after being injured.
Kisumu county governor Anyang Nyong’o while addressing the situation highlighted that the issue was cultural and therefore needs the elders from both sides and urged residents not to retaliate and embrace peace.
The Kisumu governor and his Kericho counter part had immediately after the election period come together to foster unity as the two communities living the two counties had started showing signs of intolerance.
Banditry has been rampant especially among pastrolists communities and communities living on borders. Historically banditry was a cultural practice that was sanctioned by the elders of the area.
