Russell Dominic Peters, a Canadian stand-up comedian and actor of Anglo-Indian descent has called out Daily Show host, Trevor Noah for ‘stealing’ his jokes.
Appearing on Sway’s Universe, hosted by rapper and executive producer for MTV News, Sway Calloway, Russell accused the South African comedian of plagiarizing his ‘Russian’ joke.
Russell says that his joke was inspired by his fiancee.
“We were lying in bed and my fiancee was on the phone with her mother,” the comedian said, adding that his joke was about how Russians sound like they talk backwards.
He then accuses the ‘Born A Crime’ author of using the same joke but says that Russians sound like a DJ scratching on a turn table.
Russell further claims that during the Daily Show’s Between the Scenes, Trevor used his Trinidad joke where he addressed a woman in the audience.
“He is from South Africa, he has never met a Trinidadian. He opened for me in South Africa,” Russell lamented.
Asked if he has ever reached out to Trevor, Russell said that he denied stealing any of his material.

“Which joke did I steal?” Trevor posed.
But the two later made peace with the situation and tweeted at each other, turning it into a practical jokes, he said.
He does however admit to having stolen an 8 worded joke from Gina Yashere, some 22 years ago.
“My dad thought p***** was a tropical fruit.”
