Several People Injured After Trailer Rams Into Matatu In Kibarani Area

Two people were killed and several others injured on Monday morning in Kibarani area, Changamwe, Mombasa County after an oil tanker hit a 14 seater matatu.

Inbound traffic snarl up was reported along Makupa Course way due to the accident.

Changamwe OCPD, Peter Onamwa confirmed that the accident was caused by an oil tanker leading to the instant death of the driver and the conductor.

Some of the injured were admitted at the Coast General Hospital, including a school girl who is admitted at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Residents are concerned why fuel tankers are allowed to mingle with other vehicles at rush hours.

They have called on the county leaders to ensure policies to regulate trailer movements.
