TV host Tony Gachoka is on the spot for hosting anti-Ruto crusaders in his show on KTN, Point Blank.

Since he started the show, Gachoka has hosted a total of 10 guests, most of whom have declared political fight against Deputy President William Ruto.

In the first show on February 13, Gachoka hosted former governmrnt adviser  Peter Kagwanja, who has been seen to remain neutral, however secretly supporting the anti-Ruto crusaders by showing Ruto as a weak camp through his columns on Daily Nation.

The second guest was ODM leader Raila Odinga, who has severally termed Ruto as the lord of corruption in the government.

Mr Odinga was followed by Cheranganyi MP Joshua Kuttuny who has been at loggerheads with DP Ruto’s allies. He is seen as one of the Ruto rebels in Rift Valley, where the DP enjoys massive political backing.

David Ndii, James Orengo followed suit, preaching the same anti-Ruto message. Orengo even threatened to sponsor an impeachment against Ruto, which sent shockwaves across the political divide.

Former journalist John Githogo followed. He has been on record supporting the handshake, which has caused jitters in the Ruto camp.

Former Nyeri senator Mutahi Kagwe followed. He has severally declared his love for Raila Odinga, who is thought to be Ruto’s main rival come 2022.

At one time, the former Nyeri senator confessed he would be disappointed if Raila didn’t vie for the presidency in 2022.

“I would hate to think of a situation where Raila Odinga is not running for political office,” the former Nyeri senator said.

He said there was none in Kenya who exuded presidential qualities surpassing the ODM leader.

Amani National Congress Party leader Musalia Mudavadi opened the month of April on the show. Despite showing signs of neutrality, Mudavadi is said to have remained loyal to Raila with promises of goodies in 2022.

Last week, Murathe stated it point blank on the show that he was working to see that Ruto does not run for Presidency come 2022.

Yesterday, Martha Karua, who said that Ruto is the least qualified (for Presidency).

“He is totally unsuitable. It’s actually the pin on my twitter handle,” she said.

On his debut, this writer predicted that political factors may also play in Gachoka’s show, as he openly declared his opposition to Deputy President William Ruto’s candidature in 2022. For such a show to have a partisan host, it might not be objective enough to cut across all political divides.

In fact, Gachoka will be seen as a tool to fight Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, since the media house is owned by Ruto’s arch-rival Gideon Moi, who is said to be going for the top seat in 2022 and the Moi family.

“With all these factors combined, it might be hard for Gachoka’s hyped show to break even, though it might seem to actually work in the first few episodes,” this writer predicted.

With the hype gone and now merit determining success, Gachoka might lose it to his undeclared competitor, Jeff Koinange, who has learnt the art of discipline and non-partisanship in his shows.
