Ten Benin youth players and former FA boss Anjorin Moucharafu have been handed prison sentences for age cheating.
A Cotonou court found them guilty of lying about their ages, which saw them fail MRI tests in Niger ahead of the 2019 U-17 Afcon qualifiers.
The team was subsequently suspended from the regional qualification in September leading to a national outrage.
The players were given six-month prison sentences with five months suspended.
And since they had been locked up for close to two months, they will not spend more time behind bars.
Moucharafu was found guilty for his administrative role in the scandal and was handed a 12-month sentence with 10 months suspended.
He has also served some of his time after being arrested earlier.
The team’s coach Lafiou Yessoufof and two other officials were not spared either by the court.
