The annual general meeting of the the Kenya National union of teachers (KNUT) held at the Coast turned chaotic this morning after a section of teachers demanded that the secretary general Wilson Sossion to resign.
It is alleged that a section of teachers from Central Kenya had set out to cause chaos if Wilson Sossion had not resigned.
The labor cabinet secretary Phylis Kandie had asked Wilson Sossion to resign alongside the KUPPET chairperson Omboko Milemba because of their nomination and election as State Officers. Wilson Sossion was nominated by ODM and Omboko Milemba was elected MP for Emuhaya constituency.

The CS based her letter on article 77 of the constitution which states that a public officer will not hold two positions where they receive gains.
As secretary general, Sossion receives a salary of Sh. 2 Million.
Sossion had earlier stated that he will not succumb to government intimidation to resign. He said that he was being forced out of his position because he had opposed the reforms suggested by Education CS Fred Matiang’i.
The legislator had said that the reforms and especially the new curriculum would be a tragedy in the making.
