Tanzanian opposition leader Zitto Kabwe has been arrested following his remarks on the deadly clashes in Kigoma between pastrolists and the police, which left two policemen and scores of pastoralists dead.

Despite the inspector General of Police visiting the area of clashes, they did not issue a statement prompting Mr Zitto to call for action.

“We want the police to issue a statement to account for all the deaths that took place during the clashes. The situation is tense in the area and people deserve to know the truth on what happened and on steps being taken to solve the situation,” said Zitto, before his arrest.
