Things seem to be going well for Wema Sepetu after the Tanzanian Film Board finally allowed her to get back into the entertainment industry, after a few months of being banned.
In a press conference on 18 February 2019, the board’s Executive Secretary, Joyce Fissoo said that they are lifting the ban on Wema due to the effort that she has put in to show changed behavior.
Things got thick for the former Miss Tanzania after she got into trouble with the board for posting intimate photos of herself and her ex “conman” boyfriend.
She was then arrested and arraigned in Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court but was later released on a TSh10 million (Ksh440,000) fine.
The 30 year old former beauty queen went through a rough patch whereby she was banned by the Film Board and consequentially got thrown out of her home in Salasala, Dar es Salaam for not being able to clear her rent arrears.
In December, the actress publicly pleaded with the Film Board to lift the ban, pleading that she was losing out on business deals and her source of income due to her limitations.
Only recently, Wema introduced her new flame, months after going through whole the public debacle and deciding to start all over.
She went ahead and cut her hair, signalling a new beginning, followed by opening her boutique shop in Dar es Salaam.
Wema has been seen going out more frequently and linking up with her long-time friends.
She made a statement on her Instagram, thanking the government and her fans for supporting her during her tough period.
“Miezi sita haijawahi kuwa kipindi kirefu katika maisha yangu kama kipindi hiki nilichokuwa kwenye kifungo nilichopewa na Bodi ya Filamu Tanzania…” she wrote.
She says that she is ready to start all over and build her brand once again.
“Wanasema Yaliopita si ndwele tugange yajayo… Sitokaa na kukumbuka yaliopita maana yameniumiza kwa kiasi kikubwa, nitakachofanya ni kujipanga upya na kuwa imara zaidi… Sina mengi ya kusema kwakweli maana nina furaha iliokithiri…” she added.
