The second suspect in the shooting of former Garissa Finance Executive, Idriss Mukhtar says he was tortured by the police.
Mohammed Hussein Aden’s family filed an application seeking to have him brought to court and through his lawyer, Cliff Ombeta said that he was treated in an “inhuman, degrading and cruel manner.”
While appearing before High Court Deputy Registrar Faith Muguongo, Aden said that the police assaulted him, forcing him to “sign confessions regarding the alleged attempted murder.”
Muguongo directed that the suspect be taken to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH)Â and appear for inter party hearing on September 6.
But Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Catherine Mwaniki rubbished the suspect’s claims and sought to have him and Juliet Njoki remain in custody until the prosecution completes its investigations.

Aden was being held at Gigiri Police Station.
Last week, the prime suspect in the attempted murder, David Mwai died while in police custody.
Mwai, according to the pathologist’s report died of asphyxiation as a result of hanging.
