A student of Butere Girls High School in Kakamega County was found dead on Friday at the school’s dormitory.
The 17-year old girl’s body was allegedly found hanging in the school dormitory.
Speaking on the matter, OCPD Boniface Lisiolo stated that police have already launched investigations on the death of the deceased, Elizabeth Musoi Muunya.
He explained: “The student was discovered in the dormitory on her knees hanging from one of the top beds with a ties around her neck.”
The area police boss divulged that they also found a suicide note that is alleged to have been written by the deceased.
“Forgive me my sister for what I have done. I want to join mum and dad in heaven because I cannot take being sent away from school,” read the note.
The OCPD mentioned that the letter has been taken for forensic investigations to determine if indeed it was drafted by the student.

The police boss added that the school principal had no knowledge of any discipline case that the girl was involved in.
This case becomes one of many that has seen teenagers commit suicide over a variety of issues.
With the most recent being, students who ended their lives following the release of their national examinations results.
In January, police officers in Nyatike launched investigations after another form three student allegedly committed suicide in class using a neck tie.
