Three Standard group journalist were arrested for boarding a stolen Uber. The three unaware of the status of the vehicle used the cab service as was the norm while carrying out assignments.
The journalists recalled how they were pulled over by police officers and they thought it was a case of obstruction but the police asked them to step out of the car and proceeded to inspect the car.

The journalists were then arrested and taken to Pangani police station as the police said they were prime suspects in the theft. Senior police officer had to intervene to secure their release.
It is however questionable how this particular vehicle which the police claim was stolen from the port in Mombasa could have manged to acquire vehicle documents to allow it to be registered with the taxi hailing company Uber. The driver said that the vehicle belonged to his brother but he had been driving it for three years.
