Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is unsettled over the ‘new evidence’ former county boss, Dr Evans Kidero wants to introduce to the case challenging his win, so much so that he prayed about it.
Kidero, who lost to Mr. Mbuvi on August 8 says he has in his possession evidence that will aid the court in reaching a fair decision.
But Sonko’s lawyers, Harrison Kinyanjui and Cecil Miller argued that he (Kidero) was out of order in trying to introduce new evidence and further dismissed his late application to join the petition, saying it was just an ‘after thought.’
Praying for a favorable ruling and one that will see the former governor’s application thrown out, Sonko said:
”Heavenly father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I come before you this morning seeking for your help ahead of today’s ruling on a petition challenging the victory you gave me during the August 8th General Election to serve your people.”
In the Thursday morning prayer, the governor reflected on the many hurdles life threw at him and which he squashed into a lemonade instead.
”Lord, you have always been fighting battles on my behalf. Father, it is because of you that I have never fought a losing battle throughout my life.”

Should Kidero join in the petition as an interested party, he will, through his lawyer Tom Ojienda tell the court that more than 60 per cent of the Forms 37A, used to declare the incumbent the winner, contained irregularities.
The former governor has alleged that 798 out of the 1,300 Forms 37A used were not signed by the agents and presiding officers and others not stamped.
The county boss’ election was challenged by two voters; Japheth Muroko and Zachaeus Okoth.
