Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday said he is ready to nominate Polycarp Igathe’s replacement.
The governor has settled for former Nairobi County Woman Representative aspirant Karen Nyamu, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, Agnes Kagure and lawyer Jane Weru.
During a radio interview on Milele FM, Sonko revealed that he prefers a woman takes up the Deputy Governor position, which fell vacant in January.
“I have four names in mind but I am waiting for consultations with top Jubilee party leadership who are my bosses to see who to choose,” Sonko said.
On May 16 the governor had picked NRM General and lawyer Miguna Miguna to fill the DG post, a move that was met with a lot of opposition.

“In regard to the Supreme Court advisory to the appointment of a deputy governor, upon the seat falling vacant, I hereby forward my nominee Lawyer Miguna Miguna to undergo a full vetting process and approval by the County assembly for the position,” the county boss said in a letter.
He told Jalas and Mwakideu that he had chosen Miguna out of bitterness and anger.
“I want to apologise because I selected Miguna Miguna out of anger and bitterness. There was a lot of pressure, intimidation and blackmail and so I gave them Miguna,” Sonko said.
