Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has denied knowing goons who allegedly attacked former Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) official, Timothy Kariuki on Friday.
Sonko told a local TV station that he met the said men at KANU secretary general, Nick Salat’s daughter’s wedding way back before the said attack.
“Hearsay is not admissible in court and I will not allow anyone to tarnish my good name. Mr Muriuki is my friend and we have never had any differences with him,” the county boss said.
Sonko has asked the police to hasten the investigations into the five men who the police had placed a cash reward of Sh500,000 for each.
“I accept I was with them in a wedding as shown in the photo, but that was way back before they attacked the businessmen and I cannot be associated with them just just because we were in the same event,” he pointed out.
Three men including EALA MP Simon Mbugua, Antony Otieno Ombok alias Jamal, and Benjamin Odhiambo alias Odhis were on Wednesday charged with robbery with violence.
The bail ruling is set for 2 p.m.
