Migwani Assistant County Commissioner, Elina Jempubur Serem has said that social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter are the key cause of immorality among school going children.
Speaking during a prize-giving ceremony at Racefield Academy within Kyome / Thaana ward in Mwingi West Sub County of Kitui County, Elena Serem cautioned parents to be very alert especially after they buy mobile phones for their children in a bid to embrace digital living.

“We urge parents to be very vigilant when children are using phones because they are engaging in sexuality at a very early age, monitor what the child is doing with the phone and urge them to use the gadgets for learning purposes,” Elina, the chief guest in that event pointed out.
In addition, Elina Serem emphasized that both parents and teachers to ensure children do not engage in drugs because they lead to a negative influence on the user thus affecting their learning processes.
The school director, Madam Felistus Muna urged parents to invest in education in their children for it is the best gift they can accord the young ones.
Racefield Academy emerged position 2 countywide in last year’s KCPE results with a mean grade of 381.79, with five pupils scoring 400 marks and above and the last attaining 353 marks.
