
EALA MP Simon Mbugua has been arrested for allegedly hiring goons that last week attacked former Nairobi Business Community Chairman Timothy Muruiki at the Boulevard Hotel.
Mbugua, former Kamukunji MP aspirant is reportedly being held at the Central Police station for questioning.
Nairobi OCPD Robinson Thuku, the Star reports, is yet to be briefed on the matter. But the daily reports that DCI Chief, Kamwende Ireri says that the lawmaker is ‘helping the police with the investigations.’

Muriuki was on Monday, 30 April roughed up by a number of goons who said that he was out to tarnish Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko’s name.
On Saturday, police released pictures of the six goons, offering a cash reward of Sh500,000 for each for anyone with information that could lead to their arrest.
A section of city MCAs said that Mbugua was running the show at City Hall after Polycarp Igathe quit, something that he and Sonko denied.
