East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator Simon Mbugua has been charged with robbery with violence alongside two others. They were accused of assaulting NCBDA chairman at a Nairobi hotel before a press conference.
He was represented by lawyers Cliff Ombeta, Nelson Havi and Harun Ndubi who as senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuko to grant Simon Mbugua bail on account that he was cooperative.
The prosecution however argued that Simon Mbugua had a lot of influence and was bound to influence witnesses and asked that they should be given harsh terms for bail.
Thee two were accused of being behind the attack on NCBDA chairman Tim Muriuki just before he held a press conference on the status of Nairobi city. It was speculated that he was going to speak ill of the Nairobi governor hence the ill treatment. He was forced to run for safety.
