Siaya County To Outlaw The Use Of Pit Latrines

The Lake Victoria South Water Services Board launched a Sh.2.1 billion water and sanitation project financed by the African Development Bank (ADB), meant to ensure proper sanitation in the region.

Speaking during an environmental conservation forum in Bondo on Thursday, the Siaya CEC representative for Water and Environment, Adrian Ouma, confirmed that they are working to outlaw the use of pit latrines in Siaya and Bondo.

The CEC said that the latrines lead to pollution of the water systems in the region hence affecting the water reservoirs.

All home owners and landlords of rental homes in Bondo and Siaya must build proper latrines and connect it to the sewer lines provided by the county governments.
