Students at Senior Chief Koinange Girls High School have been forced to go home after they woke up to a dormitory fire at 5 AM on Tuesday morning.
The fire left 150 students without accommodation. Fire fighters from Kiambu County were called to contain the incident.
Villagers from around the school joined the county fire engines in efforts to contain the fire which started in the upper dormitory and was quickly spreading to the lower part.
Police have reported that there were no injuries but many students have lost their valuables and school properties were destroyed in the incident.
The fire is suspected to have been started by some of the students who wanted to go home for unknown reasons.
This incident comes soon after schools opened for third term and after many schools were left counting losses during the second term due to cases of arson.
