IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has confirmed that his security was withdrawn by the government through a statement by communication officer Andrew Limo. He said that the withdrawal of security would expose the three to risk and that the security was part of the contract.
“The provision of security to the chairman and members of the commission during their tenure is within their contract of service and that this obligation ceases only when the contract expires,” Limo said in the statement.
The commission has written to the Inspector General to at least an explanation of the said move
There have been calls from Jubilee leaders such as Kipchumba Murkomen demanding that Wafula Chebukati resigns from the post after the three commissioners led by Consolata Nkatha the vice chairperson resigned saying that he was unsteady and made arbitrary decisions.
