Sanlam Closes Five Branches As Staff Abscond Duties Due To Poor Working Conditions

South Africa’s Insurance Group, Sanlam Kenya has closed five branches countrywide in this month (January) alone.

The Insurance company changed its name from Pan Africa Insurance Holdings Limited in 2016 and assured its stakeholders of a seamless transition and improved service.

”The rebrand heralds a new dawn for the diversified financial services firm that we are. It makes us a bigger and better company that is firmly positioned to deliver world-class financial services for the local clientele as well as value for our shareholders and other stakeholders,” CEO Mugo Kibati said.

A source intimated to Kahawa Tungu that there was a mass exodus by employees from the five branches due to poor working conditions.

The branches are; Migori, Kerugoya, Nyeri, Chuka and Priority (Nairobi).

The fore-mentioned branches, the source noted remained closed as employees absconded their duties for the month of December.

CS for Treasury, Henry Rotich once noted that the insurance industry also a service industry has been perceived negatively.

”The poor image of the industry has led to lack of confidence and trust by policy holders and the general public,” he said.
