The former nominated Mp said that he would instead back Ken Lusaka’s bid for the Speaker seat.
He was nominated alongside Irungu Kang’ata, Kimani Wamatangi and Nakuru’s Susan Kihika.
It has been said that his move was to ensure that Nakuru’s Kihika beat the men in the race.
According to the Star, the legislator met with Deputy President William Ruto who allegedly dissuaded him from running for the seat.
The DP is also said to have met all the candidates who applied for posts in both houses of parliament.
Ruto, during the private meetings asked the candidates to work together in pushing the ruling party’s agenda.
It is during these meetings that he persuaded Naisula Lesuuda and Martha Wangari to drop out of the National Assembly deputy speaker race.
