Deputy President William Ruto is a man poised to take over the reigns of power from his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022.
The self acclaimed ‘hustler’ is on the hunt for National Super Alliance (NASA) governors with a umber being specifically ODM members in his quest to marshal support in the grassroots ahead of 2022.
The brazen politician known for his hard stances is said to have an elaborate plan that will enable him edge out seasoned politicians like Kalonzo Musyoka who according to NASA MOU is poised as the flag bearer after five years.
The DP has made in roads in central Kenya by campaigning for his boss in Meru, Murang’a, Nyeri during the 2017 elections. During the burial of the late Governor Wahome Gakuru, Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina told Ruto,
“As Nyeri residents, we do not forget. We always pay back in kind.”

Opposition leader, Raila Odinga in October addressing a parliamentary group meeting acknowledged that Ruto was in deed on the hunt for top NASA leaders.
“I know they are courting you and offering you more goodies, but I trust you will stand for what is right and push for justice for Kenyans,” Odinga said.
In fact, Governor Granton Samboja during the electioneering period vowed to work with the Jubilee government. Only yesterday (22, November) Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong said that he was ready to work with the government as long as it was inclusive.
Word also has it that the DP is also head hunting in Kisii region which surprisingly voted overwhelmingly for Kenyatta. Ex-legislators form the region have allegedly been holding secret meetings and are well financed.
Kisii governor, James Ongwae and Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama are on the DP’s radar. The ruthless leader that is Ruto is seeking to destabilize Odinga’s holds on the Kisii people. The two are rarely seen in NASA functions lately.
Luo Nyanza is not spared either as a Governor serving his second term is said to be seriously considering registering his own political party since he is ‘disgruntled by ODM’.
Mr Ruto is not leaving anything to chance and is said to have set his sight on the two “troublesome”coastal leaders, Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart, Amason Kingi who are serving their second and final terms in office.
