Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday shocked Baringo residents after he showed up to the Kimalel Cultural Fare and Goat Auction which was revived by the President in 2013, with Sh12 million in cash.
The DP, is said to have walked in with a brown suitcase and pointing at the bag told the auctioneers to ‘pick the bag, there is Sh12 million in there.’
He purchased 1,000 goats; some for Marakwet East senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), President Uhuru Kenyatta, and his friends for the festivities.
The money was taken to a Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and the payment processed.

The monies raised will be used to insure over 12,000 families in Baringo through the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Also making a purchase was Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru who bought 10 goats, Gideon Moi spent Sh492,000 for 41 goats, Labour CS Phyllis Kandie who bought 100 goats all going for Sh1.2 million.
