Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday paid the family of former President Daniel Moi’s late son Jonathan Moi a visit.
Ruto was flanked by Eldama Ravine Member of Parliament Moses Lessonet and Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis.
He was there to condole with the family of the 66 year old Safari Rally enthusiast who lost battle to pancreatic cancer on Friday.
The DP was received by Jonathan’s family at his Kabimoi village home.
On Saturday, Ruto mourned the deceased as “an enthusiastic, competitive and masterful rally driver. He was sociable, affable and loved a good laugh.”
“Jonathan treasured family, friendships and committed himself to bettering the lives of others. Rest In Peace,” he added.
The Moi family has asked the public to give them time to mourn the loss privately.
“We are distraught as family and we ask for your prayers and seek your understanding and indulgence to allow us mourn privately,” Baringo Senator Gideon Moi said.
Jonathan unsuccessfully vied for the Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat in 2002.
