Wasafi records’ latest song, titled ‘Mwanza’, performed by Rayvanny featuring Diamond Platnumz has been banned in Tanzania.
Baraza la Sanaa Tanzania(BASATA) announced that the song lyrics were too vulgar and promote immorality among the youth.
The song which has already amassed 1 million views on YouTube will no longer be played on radio, TV or clubs in Tanzania.
“Wimbo ‘MWANZA’ wa Wasanii @Rayvanny aliomshirikisha @DiamondPlatnumz umefungiwa na Baraza la Sanaa Tanzania (BASATA) kupigwa mahali Popote kwa sababu za kuwa Unahamasisha Masuala yasiyofaa” the statement reads.

BASATA official, Godfrey Mngereza commented that he is disappointed in Diamond as he is a popular figure, hence he should set better standards for the youth who look up to him.
This is the third song from Wasafi to be banned by the government, after ‘Halleluyah’ featuring Morgan Heritage and ‘Waka Waka’ featuring Rick Ross.
This ban comes just a few days after a Tanzanian politician called for the arrest and banning of Diamond Platnumz from the entertainment scene in Tanzania.
