The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) through its party leader Raila Odinga have unanimously agreed to rally behind Dr Ochillo Ayako as the senatorial candidate for Migori.
Raila said that after extensive consultations those who had eyed the seat and were permanent members of the party had decided to step down and rally their support behind Ayako. The ODM leader appealed the supporters to support the candidate.
Some of the leaders present at the meeting said that they had agreed to abide by the decision of the party. Omondi Anyanga said that Migori party was an ODM stronghold and therefore no other party would prosper in the area.
The family members of the former senator including his widow said that the late senator Ben Oluoch would have wished that the party manifesto be realised in Migori.
Dalmas Otieno had also expressed interest in the seat but failed to get the ODM nomination. He said that he would vie under his new party
“Today, I have unveiled a new party. My new symbol is a giraffe. I chose this because just like a giraffe, I can see very far,” said Otieno. He added: “We are bitter because some people came here, pushed us around then suddenly announced they have picked a candidate for people of Migori.”
