NASA presidential candidate, Raila Odinga will be in Kibra constituency at 2 pm, the same time President Uhuru Kenyatta will be addressing the first joint parliamentary sitting.
The Kamkunji grounds rally will see Odinga rally the Kibra constituents behind him as he gets ready to take on Kenyatta on October 17.
The President is required by the Constitution to address each newly elected Parliament within 30 days after MPs are sworn-in.
“Pursuant to the provisions of standing order 22(2) of the National Assembly and standing order 22(2) of the Senate, the Speaker of both the Houses of Parliament hereby notify all Members of Parliament that the opening of the twelfth shall be held in the National Assembly chamber, main Parliament buildings, Nairobi on September 12, at 2:30pm,” read a notice signed by Speaker Justin Muturi and Kenneth Lusaka.
The rally has been said to be NASA’s move to draw attention away from the President’s address. Uhuru is expected to outline his government’s agenda.

Kenyatta on Monday dared the NASA legislators to miss the sitting saying they did not need them to conduct house business.
Moses Wetangula said the President was acting against the constitution, adding that they would not listen to a ‘lame duck’ president.
