Only one of the panelist Machariah Gaitho who is an independent journalist who had categorically stated that that freedom of the media was an inalienable constitutional right which even the president cannot interfere with.

It is alleged that Linus Kaikai who the vice chairman Samuel Maina accused of unprocedurally releasing a statement on their behalf had taken issue with the government.

Sources have disclosed that the Nation Media group managing editor was promised government appoints and support which failed to materialize.

Samuel Maina and Hannington Gaya said that the alleged dress down of the media and issuance of threats by the president was a facade of Linus Kaikai and that the discussion was fruitful and that it only indicated that the freedom of the media came with some level of responsibility.

It is alleged that Linus Kaikai was using press pass to push his personal opinions and not those of the Kenya Editors Guild.
