The president has nominated Noordin Haji for the position of director of Public prosecutions beating lawyer Lucy Kambuni and Jacob Nyakundi.
He has also presented the name of Justice Kihara Kariuki for the position of attorney general for the parliamentary approval. The position fell vacant after AG Githu Muigai resigned under unclear circumstances
Noordin Haji has been serving as the National Intelligence service as the deputy director. The interviews took place behind closed doors under a very extensive round of panelists .
It consisted of Kennedy Kihara (Office of the President), Maryann Njau (Attorney General’s office) and Lilian Omollo (Ministry of Public Service) Kagwiria Mbogori (Kenya National Commission on Human Rights), Elizabeth Muli (Law Society of Kenya), Francis Atwoli (Central Organizations of Trade Unions) and Halakhe Waqo (Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission).
The name has been forwarded to parliament which will approve the name before Noordin Haji can take over the position .
The position went vacant after Keriako Tobiko resigned to take up a cabinet position.
