The Committee on Budget and Finance was established by the Assembly in its resolution ICC
ASP/1/Res.4 of 3 September 2002.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya to the Kingdom of the Netherlands presents its compliments to the Secretariat of the Assembly of State Parties of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and has the honor to refer to the latter’s Note Reference:. ICC-ASP/16/SP/08 dated 7th March, 2017 on the nomination and election of Members of the Committee on Budget and Finance.
The Embassy has the honor to confirm that the Government of the Republic of Kenya has nominated Margaret Shava for election to the position of Member of the Committee on Budget and Finance. Ms. Shava is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Management consultant with over 25 years of experience in Management and Legal Consultancy. The Government of Kenya is convinced that Ms Shava, whose resume is attached herewith, meets the requirements for appointment to the above position,” an excerpt from the letter from the office of the Ambassador in March this year.
However, Kahawa Tungu can now confirm that she has been elected to join committee that decides on ICC budget.
This is not the first time that Margaret Shava is being nominated by Government for a prominent post. She was among the five names that were shortlisted to replace Isaack Hassan after the call by the opposition to have the IEBC reconstituted. Miss Shava was also a member of the Truth Justice and reconciliation commission (TJRC)
Her appointment to the Budget and finance committee for the ICC has been linked to the fact that she is a relative as well as a confidante of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
