President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in Mombasa to launch the Eat More Fish Campaign to increase the dietary intake of fish in Kenya.
“This is an initiative by the State Department of Fisheries that seeks to increase dietary intake of fish in the nation,” spokesperson Kanze Dena said.
This visit comes after the President formed the Kenya coast guide sevice to stop illegal fishing at the Kenyan coast.
Kenyan fishermen have complained of influx of fish from the Chinese market. The KCD officers will be picked from the Kenya defense forces, Kanze Dena tolkd Mombasa journalists.
“The service will protect Kenya’s territorial waters from criminals and the exclusive economic zone from illegal fishing,” Dena said during a media briefing at State House, Mombasa.
The president will also commission MV Mvoria which will be used to patrol the deep sea and protect the fisherman.

He already appointed Brigadier Vincent Loonena the former managing director Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme at KDF.
