Police Launch Manhunt For Gunmen Who Kidnapped An Italian Volunteer In Kilifi

Police have launched a manhunt for gunmen reported to have kidnapped a 23 year old Italian volunteer, Sylvia Constanca, from her hotel room in Kilifi county.

Sylvia is reported to have been abducted by gunmen armed with AK47s, who begun shooting without discrimination at Chakama Trading Centre.

The attack which happened at around 8 PM left 5 people injured in the process, including 3 children.

Inspector General Joseph Boinnet confirmed the attack and appealed to the public to help with the investigations and in the search for the abductors.

“Neither the reasons for the attack nor the identity of the attackers have been established. Meanwhile, we appeal to members of the public in the area to report promptly to the nearest Police Officer or Police Station should they sight the criminals with the abducted lady,” Boinnet said.

Sylivia Constanca is a volunteer with Africa Milele Onlus, a non-profit organisation in Kilifi area which helps disadvantaged children in marginalized areas.

“We assure the public that we are sparing no effort in tracking down the criminals and rescue the victim,” the police said.
