Leading the protests were MPs Badi Twalib, Abdulawamad Nassir among others.
The protests are said to have turned ugly after police lobbed teargas canisters as the crowd approached the IEBC headquarters.
The security officers are said to have beaten the protesters as others fled.
The opposition has called for seven day demos starting 16 October. They are seeking to remove from office IEBC CEO, Ezra Chiloba from office.
The NASA flagbearer Raila Odinga withdrew his candidature on Tuesday. He accused the electoral body of not considering their ‘irreducible minimum’ demands.
He also accused the Jubilee government of calling the shots in the commission.
The opposition is calling for fresh elections, complete with nominations which will make it impossible to hold elections before 1 November.
Matiang’i banned the protests noting that they resulted in looting and destruction of property.
