The wife of murdered Kitui County National Youth leader, Benjamin Muema Kinyali, has been detained at Itoleka Police Station for seven days.

This was after the police obtained the orders from Kitui Principal Magistrate Johnstone Munguti.

According to the detectives, Salome Kathini Wambua, seemed shaken while appearing before the magistrate on Thursday.

Additionally, the detectives sought orders to compel Safaricom to release telephone communications between the woman and her deceased husband to help them probe the gruesome murder.

The investigating officer, Wycliffe Onsando, requested the court to allow police to detain the prime suspect, his wife, at the police station pending her appearance in court on Thursday, April 25,29 to answer to charges.

Officer Onsando mentioned: “Your honor, preliminary investigations at the communication between the slain youth and the suspect indicate that they had a fragile relationship. They accused each other of infidelity. The text messages between the two bordered on bitterness as regards to their union.”
