Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has affirmed that plans are on course to renovate Kenya’s oldest stadium, City Stadium.

The facility has been in disuse for years now since the astro turf that was installed by FIFA in its surface worn out.

“Plans are on course to renovate City Stadium to international standards as we strive to improve sports infrastructure in Nairobi County in order to give the youth an opportunity to nurture their talent, the County boss said Tuesday as he inspected the stadium.

“My administration is also still committed in completing the rehabilitation of Dandora, Kihumbuini, Woodley, Jacaranda and Kariokor stadiums.”

City Stadium also known as “Tok Komwanda” has for years been the home ground of Kenyan champions Gor Mahia.
