Nyamira residents on Sunday held peaceful protests condemning President Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks towards Chief Justice David Maraga and the Supreme Court.
Led by Borabu Mp, Ben Momanyi, the area leaders said the President and his deputy, William Ruto should respect the Judiciary.
“We are bitter about the statement that was issued by President Uhuru and we are telling him to respect Maraga,” he said.
The legislator said that the Gusii community would not tolerate the manner in which one of their own, Maraga was being treated.
Also present was Vincent Kemosi, West Mugirango Mp who said that the UhuRuto duo ought to respect the judiciary as it is an independent arm of the government.
“The Judiciary as an independent body is not subject to the president and his subjects. He should, therefore, respect the leaders,” Kemosi said.
