Former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General Paul Munge has passed on in Nairobi Hospital.

Munge is reported to have succumbed on Tuesday evening while undergoing treatment at the facility.

It is however unclear over the kind of illness that claimed his life.

President Uhuru Kenyatta lead close friends and family in mourning of the former commissioner general.

“Mr. Munge will be remembered as one of the pioneer Kenyan stockbrokers, having been a founding partner of the Shah Munge and Partners Stock Brokers, one of the original brokers at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE),” the President added.

The former KRA boss resigned from the agency in 2003 following adverse mentions in his involvement in the loss of public funds.

Munge had served in the position for two years before there arose calls for his resignation after the collapse of Euro Bank.

However, he maintained his innocence from any wrongdoing and underhand dealings in the scandal asserting that he had served his country diligently.
