Passengers using the Jomo Keyatta International Airport (JKIA) have complained of being forced to queue long lines so that their bags can be checked.
The passengers have also complained of the staff being rude and unfriendly while doing the search. Questions have arose over the 100 days of training that the staff went through in order to improve services at the airport.
Some passengers have seen the long queues as a plot to solicit money from them without the staff being nabbed.

The passengers say that after being forced to open their bags nothing was actually checked by the rude staff. They were being asked to produce receipts for items purchased and if one did not have the receipts they were asked to leave their items at the airport.
They say that the demeanor being displayed by staff who are supposed to be the welcoming face for Kenya was bad and would be detrimental especially when Kenya is still being approved for direct flights to the USA.

Other Kenyans on twitter have supported the actions by KRA officials saying that they is how they prevent drugs from being trafficked.
A recommendation was floated for Kenya to adopt the randomization process that is used in other countries so as to hasten the clearance process.
