Now we are being told that Christmas starts early. Telkom Kenya is already ahead with various offerings. The company has slashed the cost of devices and introduced bonus offers on its services.
Telkom Kenya CEO , Mickael Ghossein has announced that the company has reduced the cost of a range of its devices by up to 40%, in a move aimed at rewarding loyal customers and attracting new ones during this period.
Ghossein has announced that “customers who buy middle and high end phones will get a reward of 1 GB worth of data, to be distributed evenly over a five month period while the purchase of entry level handsets will be bundled with talk time valued at KSh. 200, over a similar period”.
It is not clear which phones they will rank as middle and high end phones because that is a very deceiving term in marketing.
Orange say that it will be offering the Internet Everywhere 3G modem at a 40% discount, Â effectively meaning that the device will retail for Kshs 1,799.
Other data offers include the D-Link wireless router with modem retailing for KSh.6,690 down from KSh. 7,890, while for SMEs, the newly launched Orange Flybox will continue retailing at KSh. 16,999, complete with a free fixed telephone set.
The Christmas promotion will be available at Orange shops and the company’s preferred partners countrywide. The two month promotion runs from 4thNovember 2011 to 4th January 2012.

With all honesty and respect, i don’t think Orange needs to entice the market with the so called offers. Let them just upgrade the data streaming service and network coverage for the so called 3G+ modem service. I felt most embarrassed when i inquired from their customer care about the extremely slow speed and guess what, the attendant 1st asked me which part of Nairobi are you? On responding Lang’ata, he apologized and acknowledged that the network coverage in such areas was quite weak and thus the snail speed despite being 3G+
