One person has died in Bungoma town after police clashed with protesters on Friday.
The protesters were demonstrating against the fresh elections that took place on Thursday, 26 October but were rescheduled to Saturday, 28 October in Migori, Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay counties.
According to former Bungoma Governor and now Senate Speaker, Ken Lusaka, there was a low voter turn out due to leaflets that threatened those willing to exercise their civic duty.
In Kisumu, protesters sustained gun shot injuries and a teenage boy shot dead in Kit Mikayi. He was in a group which had attempted to stop voting.
According to Kisumu Governor, Anyang Nyong’o, ’26 out of the 99 victims have gunshot wounds.’
“The officers are out to execute innocent people opposing oppression, dictatorship and bad governance.”
